Gabay ng Lasalyano: Where Service Finds Its Way Home

On a quiet stretch behind De La Salle University, the community of Leveriza in Malate became a place of shared purpose last January 31. What unfolded was not simply an outreach activity, but a reminder of what it truly means to be Lasallian.
Led by the De La Salle Alumni Association (DLSAA) and carried out in partnership with DLSU's Center for Social Concern and Action (COSCA) and the Kuya Center for Street Children, Gabay ng Lasalyano brought alumni, volunteers, and community members together in a space shaped by care, presence, and genuine connection. It was a service not performed from a distance, but lived side by side with the people it sought to reach.

The strong involvement of the DLSAA gave the initiative its heartbeat. Alumni returned not just as supporters, but as fellow Lasallians continuing a lifelong commitment to service. Their presence reflected a simple truth. The mission does not end at graduation. It finds new meaning when carried beyond the campus and into the communities that surround it.

In Leveriza, guidance took many forms. A listening ear. A shared meal. A moment of laughter. Small gestures, offered with sincerity, turned the day into an exchange rather than a transaction. Through Gabay ng Lasalyano, service became a bridge, connecting stories, struggles, and hopes on both sides.

This effort was made possible through the generosity of partners who believe in the power of collective action. The DLSAA extends its heartfelt gratitude to BDO, Universal Robina Corporation, and McDonald’s for their support. Their commitment helped transform intention into impact and ensured that the outreach reached the community in meaningful ways.

Gabay ng Lasalyano continues to remind us that service is not confined to schedules or programs. It is found wherever compassion meets action. In places like Leveriza, the Lasallian mission finds its way home, carried by alumni, volunteers, and partners who choose to show up, serve, and stand with the community.
