POSTHUMOUS
Basketball - "for his glorious basketball career that spanned championships from collegiate, national and international tournaments, and for being one of the finest shooters ever to play for the country and the local professional league"
Affectionately referred to as "Alfie" by his family and friends, Almario was known for his easygoing personality. On the basketball court however, he was a force to be reckoned with. In 1981, Almario played an instrumental role in two interclub titles for the De La Salle Green Archers. Then, in 1982 he earned the designation of "Top Gun" in the 7th Asian Youth Basketball Championship and was selected to the Mythical Five. He went on to play in the PBA for San Miguel Beer from 1986-1990, further solidifying his status as an athletic professional of the highest caliber. Though he passed on in 2001, the level of sportsman-ship he brought to Philippine basketball will always be remembered by both fans and Lasallians alike.
