for his exemplary years of service and leadership in the Philippine judiciary, and for his profound esteem for its traditions and the rule of law
Justice Andres B. Reyes has been a pillar in the legal community in the Philippines for many decades and tirelessly endeavors towards a fair and just society. Justice Reyes has devoted his life to continuously enriching his knowledge of the law. He went to De La Salle University from 1968-1970, then furthered his education at the University of California Berkeley, St. Mary’s College of California and Ateneo Law School (1972-1978). He got started in his legal work in 1979 as a member of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines and Philippine Bar Association in 1986. During this time, Justice Reyes was also the Private Secretary in the Court of Appeals and Chief Legal Officer for the Office of the Tanodbayan. Justice Reyes quickly advanced in his career, becoming the President of the Metropolitan Trial Court Judges Association of the Philippines and a member of the Executive Committee (88th Anniversary) of the Supreme Court of the Philippines (from 1988 -1990). Justice Reyes is also involved in civic and social work, having served as a member of Pugad Lawin sa MIA from 1979- 1982. He has also acted as a member, President, and Vice President for the La Salle Green Hills Elementary Parents’ Auxiliary Board (EPA) and the Parents Association of La Salle (PALS) over the years. Recently, he was awarded as an Honorary Member of the San Beda Law Alumni Association and became Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the Philippines (in 2017 and 2018 respectively).
