for her stellar performance as a supreme table tennis athlete marked by multiple UAAP championships and “most valuable player” honors within a powerful five-year undefeated streak ultimately leading to her glorious flag-bearing journey to the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics
Lariba was an outstanding athlete during her time as a table tennis player for De La Salle University. She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Science in Management in Financial Institutions. Even at an early age, Lariba displayed a proficiency for her chosen sport and started joining provincial and national competitions at 10 years old. She was the champion for the Palarong Pambansa Elementary Girls’ Singles in 2005, 2006, and 2007. Lariba then became the champion for the Philippine National Selection in 2007. She went on to win 1st runner up and became Rookie of the Year during season 74 of the UAAP in 2011. After that, Lariba became UAAP Athlete of the Year in 2014 (Season 77) and 2016 (Season 78). At the Philippine National Games (from 2013-2016), Lariba was a consistent champion and got rank #1. Lariba has brought honor to the Lasallian community by participating in many international events, such as the Southeast Asian Junior Table Tennis Championships in Brunei (2005) where she won 1st Runner Up. She also joined the 2016 Rio Olympics in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil as the first ever table tennis player to represent the Philippines. Lariba also worked as a trainer for the DLSU Table Tennis Team where she trained athletes and served as an assistant coach duringUAAP competitions. Her family and friends remember Lariba for her drive for excellence, enthusiasm, warmth and sincerity. She has touched the lives of people around her and will certainly be missed.
