"for serving the country as one of the most esteemed lawmakers, and for championing entrepreneurship, agriculture, the fishing industry, and various small and medium-sized enterprises through landmark legislation he has written and fostered"
With an equal passion for public service and entrepreneurship, Senator Magsaysay's unique combi-nation of knowledge and experience has enabled him to serve his fellow countrymen in many ways. His time in Senate is a testament to his integrity - Magsaysay's record is free of political scandals and corruption. He co-authored numerous laws such as the Anti-Money Laundering Act of 2001 (RA 9160) in line with his stand against the concealment of ill-gotten wealth. In addition to this, he spear-headed an investigation into the fertilizer fund scam several years ago. Magsaysay also enacted legislation to improve the Filipino people's economic well-being, specifically with cooperatives and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the agricultural sector. As such, he was the principal sponsor of the Agricultural and Fisheries Modernization Act and acted as the main proponent of the Young Farmers Program. It is the sum of these efforts that have made Magsaysay a driving force for championing human rights, just leadership and creating a morally conscious society.
