| EDUARDO R.
LUCERO GS 1961, HS 1965, AB-Commerce 1970
Consistent, dedicated volunteer service and outstanding
contributions to the De La Salle Alumni Association since 1990
Eduardo “Danding” Lucero boasts of a full-fledged Lasallian education.
His primary and secondary years were taken at the Taft campus and
succeeded by a double-degree in De La Salle University. Post-graduate
studies in the Asian Institute of Management followed, from which he
graduated with distinction for his Masters in Business Management degree
in 1972. Concurrent with his post as Vice-President and
Director of Palayan Lamps Corporation, a closed family business dealing
in lighting fixtures, was a station in government as Senior Consultant
to the Secretary of Agriculture at the then-known Department of
Agriculture and Natural Resources. Simultaneous and comprehensive
agribusiness training, management, and consultancy activities in both
the public and private sectors followed in the Philippines and overseas.
A most-sought after consultant, senior positions with several
agricultural giants immediately followed suit. In 1982
Danding went back to AIM for a three-year faculty position as the
Canadian Professor of Business Management. His handling of the MBM
Program’s Finance and Development of Enterprise and his wide-ranging
proficiency in technical, hands-on project management undoubtedly paved
the way for his efficient restructuring of the De La Salle Alumni
Association’s projects, which he actively involved himself in since
1990. Danding, a member of the DLSAA board from 1990 to 2006,
was Association president from 1993 to 1995 and acting president from
1997 to 1999. His professionalization of the DLSAA included the
institution of the Executive Director position, the hiring of full-time
office staff, the revision and development of the DLSAA by-laws and
chapter system, and, more notably, the conceptualization and
implementation of the alumni-in-residence system which rapidly expanded
alumni membership and involvement while also increasing revenue for the
Association, a crucial step during the DLSAA’s formative years.
He is the brainchild of the Achiever’s Fund, a trust that provides
support to members of athletic and extra-curricular organizations. He
has also organized and executed several fund-raisers for the
Association, including Gimme Five!, the Fun Drive, and the Green and
White Ball. His participation, commitment, and contributions to the
Grade School and High School Manila Chapter and College of Liberal Arts
Chapter have not gone unnoticed, as well as his immense and
near-singlehanded role in the Honors and Awards committee activities in
more recent years. In his aim for a seamless, more capable,
and more professional Association, Danding spearheaded and personally
published the DLSAA Style Guide, Card System, Employee, Honors &
Awards, Chapters & Clubs, Homecoming, and Reunion manuals of
operation. From 2004 to 2006, he was Editor of The Alumnews, the
Association’s official newsletter, for which he wrote and also managed
production of. He is also considered the “father and mother” of
dlsaa.com, the Association’s globally-renowned website, for his
conceptualization and nurturing of the project, including personally
writing and editing its permanent content and architecture.
Last March 18, 2000, Danding Lucero was inducted into the esteemed
“Benefactors of Our Institute” roster by Superior General Br. John
Johnston. Danding, long-time kindred and personal friend of the late Br.
Benedict himself, is the longest serving DLSAA officer and director,
having 17 years experience with the Association. The DLSU Chapel of the
Most Blessed Sacrament credits its most recent renovation to his
efforts; the DLS-College of St. Benilde is also duly grateful for the
Edmundo and Purificacion Lucero Chair in Interior Design, which he
contributed in the name of his parents. The DLSAA proudly
presents the DLSAA Br. Benedict Award to Eduardo Reyes Lucero for his
consistent, dedicated volunteer service and outstanding contributions to
the De La Salle Alumni Association. |
