Tree planting at Mt. Palay-palay LIFE, in coordination with the One Million Trees (OMT) Champions from La Salle schools in the NCR, held its annual tree planting last July 28, 2007 at Mt. Palay Palay National Forest Park in Maragondon, Cavite. The tree planting activity is the first of a series of five (5) tree-planting activities scheduled every other Saturday from July 28 to September 22, 2007. 174 volunteers composed of Lasallian Family, Students, Staff, Alumini and Volunteers participated in the activity. The tree planting activity was led by the OMT Champions from De La Salle Dasmarinas and the Health Sciences Campus, Jethro Arsenio, Cherry Pareja, and Tirona. Sr. Francesca San Diego, SPC sent a Medical Team to give first aid in case of emergencies. The DLS Mountaineering team provided assistance by assigning mountain guides to the planting site. L.I.F.E had high school volunteers from DLS-Zobel and DLS Lipa.
A total of 1000 seedlings of endemic species like Tuai, Lamio, Kalumpang, Bangyas, Alibangbang, and Kinapistula were planted. The activity ended at 11:30AM.
The next tree planting at Mt. Palay Palay, which is scheduled on August 25, will be jointly spearheaded by OMT Champions from LSGH Ver Antiqueno of the Center for Spiritual Development and Angie Ballesteros of DLS Zobel. The organizers expect more volunteers to come to this activity.
Basic planting Seminar LIFE held a Basic Planting Seminar on September 16 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at the Yuchengco Multi Purpose Room, 3rd floor of the Yuchengco Hall. at DLSU-Manila attended by alumni volunteers. Past Tree planting Activities September 23, 2006. LIFE had a tree planting activity where over 1,000 seedlings were planted at Mt. Palay-palay, Cavite. Around 400 alumni, friends and other volunteers took part in this Green for LIFE: 1 million trees and beyond program. August 26, 2006, LIFE organized a tree planting activity at De La Salle Canlubang participated by various members of the Lasallian community. |
