Message from the President - July 6, 2020

July 6, 2020

In this time of COVID-19 many difficult decisions need to be made. One such decision is continued education. Being a parent to 6 Lasallians, all of whom have already graduated, I feel for the parents and guardians, now most especially, for the many sacrifices they have made over the many years to sustain the education of their children. And needless to say their outstanding choice of institution, the DLSU.

While you FROSHIES will face new challenges there is no doubt that you will succeed in achieving your goals as students of DLSU. You will need FAITH in yourselves and your educators. You will learn to know the value of SERVICE to the community, as a student, as a student leader, as a student athlete. Your COMMUNITY, be it your classmates, your professors and mentors, and, very important, the Christian Brothers will always be there for you.

However, there is another COMMUNITY that you should all know about. It is your alumni association, the De La Salle Alumni Association, of which you will all eventually be a member of. We are a COMMUNITY of college chapters, coming from various fields, coming from the private and public sector. Be they educators, administrators, entrepreneurs, lawyers, doctors, engineers, all distinguished members, in their own way, of the alumni COMMUNITY. We are all connected under the teachings and learnings of St John Baptist De La Salle.

In behalf of the De La Salle Alumni Association, we welcome all FROSHIES to this new term. Do not be afraid. Keep the FAITH, and SERVE your COMMUNITY.

Your DLSAA is here for you.

Fraternally,

Karl C. Velhagen
