We’d Rather Be Green: 2025 DLSAA Homecoming Brings Lasallians Together Once More

On March 1, 2025, the De La Salle Alumni Association (DLSAA) warmly welcomed alumni back to their beloved alma mater for the much-anticipated DLSAA Homecoming, themed “We’d Rather Be Green.” Held at the Henry Sy Sr. Hall Grounds in De La Salle University (DLSU), the event lived up to its promise of nostalgia, unity, and celebration, drawing generations of Lasallians to come home once more.

The day began with a significant and heartwarming Latin Mass celebrated at the Cory Aquino Democratic Space (G/F, Henry Sy Hall), setting a reflective and solemn tone before the festivities. Alumni then enjoyed campus tours and registration, roaming familiar hallways and landmarks that shaped their formative years.
By 6:00 PM, the Homecoming Program officially commenced with a heartfelt invocation and inspiring welcome messages. DLSAA President Prof. Randolph I. Nonato extended warm greetings and highlighted the importance of staying connected to the Lasallian spirit beyond graduation. DLSU President Br. Bernard S. Oca FSC echoed these sentiments, celebrating the enduring bond that unites Lasallians across generations.

The DLSAA proudly acknowledges the Homecoming Council 2025, led by Trustee Toto Acosta as the Homecoming Program Chairperson. Working alongside him were Co-Chairpersons Atty. Christine Base (VP) and Trustee Mylene Abiva, whose leadership and dedication helped shape the success of this year's celebration.

Also recognized were the Jubilarian Representatives and their respective classes and chapters for their monumental contributions to making the event truly memorable. Among those honored were Willie Soong from Grade School 1955, representing the Platinum Jubilarians; Mike Jose and Celso Villegas of Grade School 1965 and Art Alejandrino of High School 1965, representing the Diamond Jubilarians; and Mike Estaniel, Leo Soliman, and Jojo Dizon from Grade School 1970, alongside Gilbert Jose, Ray Patco, Rudy Bacani, and Julito Go from Commerce 1970 and Jon Achaval from Engineering 1970, all representing the Emerald Jubilarians.

The Golden Jubilarians were represented by Manny Tordesillas of Engineering 1975. The Sapphire Jubilarians included Arlyn Cheng from Commerce 1980 and Engr. Noel Tanglao from Engineering 1980. Notably, Engr. Tanglao, who also serves as College of Engineering Chapter President and a member of the Board of Trustees, is a Jubilarian whose chapter, led by Engineering 1975, generously donated ₱1 million in support of the Homecoming 2025.

Rounding out the list of Jubilarian honorees were Mylene Abiva and Jackson Ong from College 1985, representing the Ruby Jubilarians, and Prof. Randy Nonato and Atty. Christine Base from College 1990, representing the Coral Jubilarians.

A touching In Memoriam segment honored alumni who have passed on, followed by a delightful dinner as guests reconnected with friends, mentors, and classmates.
The second part of the program began with an energetic opening performance by the La Salle Dance Company – Street, setting the stage for a night of vibrant presentations and interludes. Highlights included batch introductions, with special presentations by GS 1965, College 1985, and ENG 1975. In between these tributes, guests were treated to electrifying performances by The Co-Eds, The Green Dancers, and the DLSU Animo Squad.

As the night drew to a close, the community stood together to sing the Alma Mater Song—a moving reminder of shared roots and Lasallian pride. The fellowship continued late into the night, featuring live music from The Fabulous Band, keeping the spirit of camaraderie and joy alive.

With over a century of legacy behind it, the DLSAA continues to be a beacon of connection and commitment for Lasallians around the world. The 2025 Homecoming not only celebrated that legacy but also reignited the green flame in every heart that came home.
